Bath to Poole ?
« on: 13 April 2010, 21:10:50 »

Of to France in July via Poole (Dorset). I was taking a look at routes (Bath to Poole) on AA maps online--Cardiff to Bath is straightforward (I live in Cardiff).
However from Warminster to Poole the AA suggest going via Salisbury-A36,A338,A31.
Looking at the map it as clear as a Baboons backside that the A350 is by far the shortest route.
Does anyones know this road?  Why does the AA avoid it??

It probably avoids it as it would be a slower journey

Nice one! ;D

Looking at the road on Gogle Earth it does look a bit of a pain loads of bendy bits and half the Villages in the County!
Looks like AA route best after all!  Fine if I was on a bike or on a road trip.

A350 is an awful and heavily congested at that time of year.  The route the AA has given you is actually a good driving route and pretty scenic too. (as well as quicker)

i live in the area and i quite often drive past bath... if it were me i would come through bathampton down to Frome, then to my home town of Gillingham, then on to Blandford Forum, then to Poole... but that may be a longer way round :P (its the best route i know so thats all i can offer haha)
