Vodafone security ...
« on: 15 April 2010, 16:23:57 »

... or the lack of it ...  :(

I'm on a contract phone, that is now eligible for an upgrade, I know that because I know my contract, vodafone know it because they also know my contract ....

but it seems the rest of the world also know it .. had a call last week from carphone warehouse telling me so .. and today from someone called Q4S .. who knew my name, number, address, contract dates, tarif and usage... !!!

When I called vodafone to complain they would not discuss the matter until I gave my security details ...  and could not understand it when I laughed ....

All attempts to speak to someone sensible failed,  so looks like I'll be leaving vodafone, just got to work out who to go to.

You should try dealing with their techies! I have to say something literally about 10 times before they understand

It might not surprise you to know that Q4S are a subsidary of Vodafone............
AND that they are perfectly allowed to sell your details on unless you ticked the tiny little box on your airtime contract that says" I do not wish my details to be used by any third party"
Vodafone, 02, 3, and Virgin are all well known for doing this.

It does really surprise me ... as Vodafone Customer Services say they have never heard of such a company !!!

And the little box was ticked .. :)

We had a similar problem when my mum died -- she was cremated -- so I forwarded her mail in similar fashion !!!

You ain't kidding! Daughters mobile got lifted in a night club Saturday night. As soon as she realised she called me and I had it blocked. Called Sunday morning to arrange a replacement Sim card... "No problem sir, we'll get a replacement posted out first thing tomorrow." Called this morning as it still hadn't arrived. So a slightly more helpful (english I might add) person said "Why don't you go in your local O2 shop, they'll give you a sim there and then. Just call back with the sim card number and we'll transfer it over" Did just that in the end although the numpty I spoke to after lifted the bar on the old (stolen) sim card instead of transfering to the new before taking the bar off  ::)

orange have improved big time in last 18 months. hardly have to wait - but they have put me on premier service - or maybe everyone is on premier service. I have orange care and phones are changed within a working day if faulty.

Ditto this.

I am not a particularly high usage customer, my contract with Orange comes in at £39 a month.  I got OrangeCare for £1 a month as part of a deal.

I dropped my phone a few weeks ago and it was replaced the following evening.  Two days ago, the screen stopped working on the replacement..... again, the following day a new phone arrived at my door.

Can't fault their service at all.

Vodafone on the other hand.  Finished with them in 2002 after 4 years when they pissed me off about a 'free' upgrade which was taking weeks to arrive, so I canceled my contract.  I still get letters from Debt Collection Agencies demanding me for £700 odd.  Needless to say, they wont see a penny of it, ever.

I must be the only one then?, been with Vodafone around 20 years now, had a few hicups on the way but in general theyve been really good to me. Maybe its because Im a business customer (lol, 2 phones) but I know I coundn't get my deal Im on with anyone else, tried it, they all say sorry, cant beat that?

Greatly like the idea that all those 0845, 0870 numbers are included in my plan and not charged seperatly and that fact I can talk to them in English in the UK!  :y
