The recent ad. for 'The Police'....the one that says we can expect police to spend 80% of their time on the beat in "your" area...I knew it was bull:

In the 12 years I`ve lived here; I can honestly say that I have never once seen a policeman (or woman) in a car/van or on a bike or horse, patrolling "on the beat, in my area"......not one, not a single one!!!!!!

This kind of 'spin' makes very angry, `typical politicians: `such contempt for us.

Yes Debs this advert certainly did distort the real situation of the average PC on their shift!

It should never have been broadcast and I wonder who was trying to kid whom.  It was a lie

Typical spin and BS! Just about everybody would say that 'on the beat' means foot patrol. Unless, of course, you are one of those that thinks our wonderful government can do no wrong.

This is just like the McDonalds advert that said 'bob' was another name for a pound. When I queried this with them, stating that 'bob' is, and always has been, slang for a shilling, never for a pound, they gave me some BS about their research showing that many people understood that 'bob' was sometimes used to refer to a pound! What a crock! I notice that the ad has now been changed.....

Just shows that some people, when caught out, will resort to distortions or downright lies to try and justify what they said.

Don't see them around here often at all. Couple of cars drive around about every month or so but thats about it
