Budget Motorbike Helmet Cam

Always like idea of a helmet camera for the bike, after watching things like Long Way Around, fancied doing my own. (both the trip and mounting a camera!) But with proper helmet camera systems costing £500+ tight wad student here did it on the bodge!

Video taken with this £12.99 camera from eBay (which some mugs are paying £45 for on a UK auction! I bought from Hong Kong just had to wait a month...)

Its 720p, frame rate is low at just 30fps, but looks ok on video! Takes MicroSD card up to 16Gb

Of course in true tunnie style, i got the gaffer tape out:



Results are not too bad, angle is a tad wrong, faces screen too much, but for £12.99 can't complain too much!

You might want to mute the sound and its just wind noise (oh and i know i need to update time stamp)

But the cam is chavvy, and I reckon riding position needs work  :-X

I know you wanted a helmet cam, but wouldn't your camera be better sited behind your screen? You could still use gaffer tape.  ;)  ;)

True, but its going to be very useful, would be good attached to my boots for snowboarding.

50 mph on Farthinghoe to Middleton bit now as well  :(

thought about it there, going to try it, trouble is its going to vibrate a lot. Helmet / body takes that away, screen flaps about a bit at high speed  ::)
