I feel awful
« on: 20 April 2010, 22:36:31 »

Just took the in Laws home and on the way back a cat ran out into the road, straight into the rear wheel  :(

I know I didn't go over it but, sadly, it had used up it's 9 lives :'(

I went back and checked (it was definitely dead), looked for a collar/tag (none) so couldn't really do much more than move it out of the gutter onto the grass verge :'(

There are only about a dozen houses near where it happened but I couldn't start knocking on doors at this time, especially as I know the farms there have 60+ feral cats on the land but I still feel dreadful :'(

Even rang the police when I got in but, as I thought, they aren't really interested as it's not a reportable incident.

The only good thing is that I was driving and not SWMBO (although she was in the car) as she would find it more devastating than I am...

RIP poor little pussy cat :'( :'(

I know... But I'm a big softie really ::)

If I'd been speeding I'd have been able to blame myself but I wasn't... In fact, I'd slowed down because of it! :(

Apologies if I cause offence to the feline lovers amongst you but....

One of those little furry bundles caused me the loss of both my front teeth at the tender age of 11 when it ran out in front of me whilst I was upon a Mk IA Raleigh Chopper (red, of course) and I braked to avoid it.

The little chuffer got caught under the front wheel which, combined with a copious handfull or two of brake, caused me to exit said Raleigh Chopper (Mk IA, in red, of course...) via the gap in the cowbar handlebars, and thereafter doing a freshly tripped up Wile E Coyote impersonation with my face and newly resplendant buck teeth along the tarmac leaving dust clouds (and blood and tooth) behind.....

Enter the use of wallies at said tender age of 11....

Sympathy for those feline beasts of Satan?  nope, not I.....   ;)

The little bugger ran off to empty its saucer of milk and the neighbours beloved Tiddles survived for some years afterwards with nary a gravel rash or two.   ::)

It happens, sadly.
I took out a Rabbit a few years ago, two of them just ran out in front of me, stopped to make sure it was dead. It's mate just sat at the edge of the road and looked at me, talk about feeling guilty...... :-[ :(

11 years of age - Scots, English, Swahili or from Planet Zog - the loss of your front teeth, with accompanying sore face, elbows and knees, (and mangled Raleigh Chopper, Mk1A in Red, of course)nipps just a tad....   ;D

;D  Never rode the thing again!  Gave it away, eventually.  Should have kept it.  Even with its crash scratches and later, being thrown around in temper several times, would still be worth a few squids...   ;D
