Kinda gives every policeman, soldier, nurse, surgeon.... (the list goes on) the right to have a fling?

I'm pleased to see some latitude given but it isn't a particularly convincing argument in my view.

There's never a right or a wrong.  It's Right OR Wrong

Twice the legal speed limit.

The thing is he got caught.

I find it really interesting how you can start to differ when thier trade gets brought into it.  These are highly trainded proffesionals, just the the police office a few years ago that trainded other officers in the merits of high speed pursuit and then went home doing 120mph and got caught.

Everyone speeds and even some on here regulary do a ton plus. there are a lot of superbike users on here, dont tell me that all of you have never tried to see what the top speed is, or even see if you can top 150mph.

We are all guilty of it at some times in our lives, just that some go caught, some didnt.

The thing is, should you then start pleading for you licence because of your job.

Like the judge who got caught with child porn on his PC, was he just checking evidence for a court case.  Dont think so.

If people were to drive in a manner that ensured they never breached the speed limit, you'd end up with a lot more accidents as the driver would be paying far too much attention to a so called "magical" number rather than the more important stuff (such as what is actually happening in front of them).

I would like to see his unit exert the ban that the courts would have implemented or some other disciplinary action after his tour.  That is not to say I am pleased with the court's decision.  I have had numerous instances where soldiers have not be given leniency, including for specialist duties overseas.  I dont beleive in playing the job card, I got caught speeding just before going out in 2006.  I paid and took the points, I could have asked to be let off like some of my collegues have done but it's just not right.

tbh, every soldier can be replaced, even generals.  Otherwise the army would fall flat on it's face, I have weekly juggling matches to put relevant people in the right places and that always changes from one day to the next.  Why this case is special I don't know.....

It isn't special, he just managed to "sell sand to the arabs" and blagged it successfully (which is what EVERY single last defence & prosecution brief does EVERY day of the week).

He should have had the ban, but deferred until his return!  That sort of speed is taking the pee.
