That's a sad sight. I had two Mantas in my younger days: a 2.0 SR coupe in silver and a GT/E Exclusive in Monaco Blue. Great cars, with superb Gertrag gearboxes, but prone to rust in footwells and sunshine roof area.  :(

I had a "T" reg "Berlinetta" 20 odd years ago.

Colorado Sand, with a black vinyl roof (yuk). Fitted Spax all round, up-rated cam, up-rated lucas alternator, stripped off the vinyl roof, fitted the Irmscher body kit and sprayed it Guards Red.

Mmmm, odd mirrors, roof non sunroof model so worth cutting off to fit on a sunroof Manta. That said there does appear to be something wrong with the roof in the pics.

Nice to find though. About 5 years ago I "found" a Manta A in Guernsey, went back last year and it was gone.

.......

After market driver's mirror fitted. I didn't particularly note a rotten roof, but the front panel above/behind the driver's head light was paper thin with rust. I never een looked to see if it had chrome or plastic bumpers.  :-?
I must have been distracted by the amount of vegetation growning INSIDE it!  ;D  ;D  ;D  :y

Not saying it is rotten, maybe just a build up of bird poo or something like that, Looks like approx 1981 to 1984 model so could be either chrome, black plastic or the fibreglass front end. As for the vegetation I thought that was a reflection, but on closer inspection I see what you mean. Must have been there a few years.  :)

It's actually a rather rare (now ) 1.8 ohc coupe. Most have been dismantled for their gearbox ,engine mounts, dipstick and oil pick up pipe which are neccesary to fit the "red top" 16V engine into any Manta. :(
The after market mirror is an Engelman which was famous for being used on the "400" homologation model. These mirrors sell for around £80 a pair in UK although I was outbid on a set on E bay Germany only today for £15  >:( fell asleep on the chair after lunch.......
I too had a Manta 33 years ago ,a 1.6 SR .
In fact I've still got it, although it's a little different now. :y
