Your seeing 1 and 0, ie on and off  :)

Not understanding something (or not knowing the answer) does not make you stupid.
The top figures count from right to left (1, 2, 4, 8, etc), while the columns directly below them contain either a 1 or 0 to denote low or high.

The column on the right (output) gives the final figure that humans can decipher (aka, Decimal) once the 1's & 0's are totted up.

I never enjoy mathematics because of it's absolute certainty, black or white, nature, whilst I love the greyness of life, the uncertainty that means we are never sure of what to expect next! :D :D ;)
