What is the oblong bit??
« on: 19 May 2010, 23:15:52 »

Been looking the for sale section and just wondered ::)
The newer cars have a less attractive, imo, central bit with the radio etc. OK I can see where you put the cd but what is the oblong bit at the bottom, looks like it should open ::)

Is it, almost as wide as the grey bit and about 2 cm high, with a symbol to the right with a sort of half rounded arrow on it.... :-[

Ah, yes, I see what you mean, now. My '02 2.6CD doesn't have that. I'd be interested to know, too.  :y

Not a head unit with sat nav, I suppose?

Single CD slot for the nav disk at the top and a 4 CD changer magazine goes into the lower slot.

You're spot on Kevin...
The link is to a NCDC 2013, the top aperture is for the nav disc, and the oblong bit is where the 4cd magazine fits.
Same as a CCR 2006, at the top is the tape player, at the bottom the 4cd autochanger.
