AGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YLOD
« on: 22 May 2010, 13:24:08 »

Happened this morning while my daughter was loading Modnation Racers. >:( >:( :'( :'(

Beeped shut off. Dust caused YLOD

Anyway booked it in for repair, tried Sony first, they were useless - didn't get the hint I wanted a FREE REPAIR, NOT an exchange.

They will be getting a shitty letter when we get it back >:( >:(

Already decided it was repair or new 250GB slim.

I think I will now just clean it out every 6 months to remove dust.

Yellow Light of Death that seems to be affecting Playstation 3's (much like the infamous Red Ring of Death that kills 30% of XBox360's)  :o

Last I heard they were busy playing ostrich and denying there was a problem, but they will fix it if you buy their care package.

They only do exchange - for another console which could YLOD.

We would also lose all the game saves.

Would have got a new one but repair isn't too much so why not give it ago.

Mine YLOD'd a while ago, but it was a company freebie, so I had no receipt etc... And it's the original 60gb model that plays PS2 games.  I never got past looking at Sony who wanted 120 quid to exchange it for something less capable.

Whereabouts are you taking yours for repair Martin?

Incidentally, I've still got (and use daily) an original XBox.  Never cleaned it and it's never failed.  They certainly don't build 'em like they used to!

Of course you wouldn't expect Sony to fix their gayStations.  I made the same mistake expecting Sony to fix my top of the range telly which was only a few days old, but they refused because it was a design flaw feature.

This is just one of a string of reasons I won't by a gayStation. Or any other Sony junk.

Incidentally, my xbox360 has been flawless. Its one of the early ones with the heatsink issue. Lucky, or simply the fact that the majority do not fail?
