white screen with black square??

was writing a post, screen went totally white then a little black square appeared, went back on to the thread but couldnt move mouse, then happened again and i had to take the lead and battery out to switch laptop off.

anyone know what happened or had this before??

crashed before but never like this, was quite wierd to be honest. i guess laptop is old now, had it 4 years now

from description sounds more like hardware issue
