I am a postman, and i never ever send anything valuable through the mail because when it goes missing its almost impossible to find the culprit unless its a serial offender who's pattern becomes visible over a period of time via people with good eyes, or public complaints building up

i've only been there a couple of years, so i'm not sure exactly how many pairs of hands an individual item touches before your postperson delivers it, but i too have had to deliver mail that looks suspiciously damaged and i cringe when people open the door incase the finger automatically gets pointed my way,
All the innocent postman has the power to do is give the customer the contact number for where to complain :(

So am I :y.......But I work indoors, have done for the last 20yrs sorting the mail, 24yrs service overall.  Gladly on our shift they're an honest bunch, but dishonesty has happened in other areas, they get caught eventually >:(

Mick ;)

In defence of postmen.....
MY postlady carried my towbar from the sorting office to my house as she lives four doors down, and thought I might need it urgently (thanks MutantCav).
She's only 5ft and about 45......

What a star!!!

What a star!!!

We get very good service... Any parcels/signed for stuff used to get left/delivered anyway with a note saying "I hope you don't mind, I signed for you!" which was superb as the sorting office is about 7 miles away :y

Now it's been arranged to deliver to the local shop and they keep a book which we have to sign when collecting :y
