18 hours yesterday
« on: 30 May 2010, 09:06:00 »

We were up at four AM yesterday to catch a flight to the Shetlands.
I crawled into bed after a shower at around 22:30 after Keith & i had done as much as we could on our winch installation.
We're aboard the Skandi Artic & moored in dock on the Shetlands. Word is we sail tomorrow night. Keith did a twenty six hour shift & i hope he's currently fast on.
I'm waiting for the welders to finish their work so i can proceed with some more work. It's a waiting game for most of the time.
Gona have another wander down at 10ish to see what's what.

In the distant past, I worked on the Ninian Field on the Central & Southern Rigs. 15 hour shifts for 21 days without a break & frequent call outs at no notice to resume work when needed & immediate boat home if you didn't comply!  ::) (Apparently, this was a double punishment as the boat took forever & just dumped you in Aberdeen to find your own way home! :o) If at the end of your 'Tour' the weather was too bad for the Paraffin Budgies to carry you off home, you had to carry on regardless!! Mind you, we then got 10 days leave (including travel both ways, so really 8 days) I have been almost senseless with lack of sleep in several areas of my working life, but the 18 months on that job nearly brought me to my knees on more than one occasion! Happy Days, I wish they were here again!  :'( ;D ;D
