the sun newspaper was printed today in apparent 3d with the cheapo red/ blue glasses.

the ones for cinema use are just grey tints.

I think the grey versions work via filtering specific changes to polarization within digital movie images....whilst the red/green glasses work by filtering selective-superimposed images by hue.
The latter are the older technology. ;)

I'm a bit geeky with cinema things!don't ask why!but simply put the glasses you get from the cinema are still tinted red and green but are darker because of the lack of light in the cinema.if you take them outside and hold them sideways you can see the tints.in order for the human eye to see artificial 3d it has to be in red and green.hth! :)

cheapo cardboard ones use a variety of colour combinations, note that they are not all the same. As some TV stations use alternative colour choices, the glasses used in film and for Sky use a rotation / spiral in the lens to create 3d, hence no colours.  :y
