cd drive playing up on the x box. got it working again but got a feeling it wont be long before the case covers have to come off again.

the replacement drives are cheap enough its just the "flashing over" bit or matching.

any ideas??

the cd drive is similar to one in a pc. the thing the sellers highlight is that it needs to be matched to the unit.

Yeah you need to extract the cd//dvd key from the xbox motherboard then dump it in to the new drive or it just wont work ... i like playing around with stuff like that but unless you know what your doing it can turn out very expensive ... pay the man that knows what to do and make sure they flash it with the latest i xtreme firmware .. 1.6 i think  :y

Got a problem with my son's Xbox 360, E73 error.

Tried the fixes we found on the net - stop the fans and let it overheat, or remove the mainboard, take off the heatsinks and apply fresh thermal paste.

Nothing worked, but I did notice when we had the main board out that there was a distinct rattle coming from the corner where the ethernet port is.

Is there something in there that can break? Can it be fixed?
