On another thread I started to go into the sad affair of the loss of the Euston Arch in London during 1961/2, against many protests to preserve it when the then new Euston - 1960s monstrosity - station was to be built. This was a great loss to part of London's railway history, and some thought it had gone forever.
However, there has been a big movement to rebuild the arch using 60% at least of the original that was discovered by an historian dumped to fill a hole in a London river!!:
