Does anyone know how long it takes to be notified these days having had my photo taken on the A9 on the way home earlier? It's been so long (over 10 years) since my last indiscretion? 

I think you can reduce the penalty points if you produce evidence of a carbon offset.

The A9 passes through an array of different landscapes. The road also passes many interesting places and tourist locations, providing a pleasant break from driving.
   


The A9 stretches from Perth to Inverness, winding its way through some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland. An important link between the Highlands and Lowlands, it is also popular with tourists. Along the road are many places worth stopping at to experience local culture and history.

It all depends on your speed whether they intend to prosecute you. I've always believed it was 10% +2mph. So if you went through a 30 zone at under 35 you'd be ok. I've never tired it, and never been caught by a speed camers. But without being too rude, how fast do you think you were going?

Can anyone confirm whether the 10% plus 2mph is correct?

I believe the 10%+2 is the reccomendation of ACPO, and is usaully adhered to , but there isnt a legal obligation for enforcement agencies to do so. :-/

i've noticed the speedo usually reads about 10% higher than the satnav - i presume the satnav is more accurate

There are still some coppers who will use their judgement and not throw the book at you for national speed limit plus 55.

Of course my comments could simply be the result of advancing years or prescription medication rather than concern for the traffic regulations:-/

first speeding "incident" i was stopped at 6am, summers day doing a ton on a clear, empty stretch of motorway in an f reg scirrocco - the cop who pulled me was a mate from school - i was his first collar on his first day on traffic his boss gave me a lecture but let me off as a favour

absolutely zulu - no excuses  :-/ funnily enough the 3litre elite never got me into bother - couldn't afford to put the foot down in it tho - eye-watering consumption
