My neighbour has just informed me that his recently-purchased Mercedes CLS AMG Coupe was stolen last night. They forced the front door and took his keys.

It is black and very distinctive, not just because of the AMG badging and the alloys, but also because the registration is M13RGE ("Marge" - the name of his deceased wife).

I expect it's already in a container in a port somewhere, but on the off-chance that someone on here spots it, please call 999.  :y

I am so sorry to hear that this gentleman's car has gone Crocodile Dundee, I really am, but you pay all that for a nice car and not get a tracker fitted :o :o :o :o. Like the old saying ' A fool and his money are soon parted '.
I am also surprised that it is not a condition of his insurance to have one fitted, I had to when I had the 7 Series.
Funny old world, but, like I say, I am so so sorry that this car has gone AWOL. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Sad for the owner of course, but I don't know him that well and can't imagine why he didn't have a tracker fitted. When he told me the story, I said I'd post a note about it "on a forum", but that was really just a token gesture as, at the end of the day, I'm sure it was stolen to order and is long gone now. :(

Nice as it is, I can't imagine my Omega being stolen to order.  ;) ;D

Usually with a car like this they park it up for a few days to see if it gets recoverewd because of a tracker. May be worth him have a look round in residential type communal parking areas. but i suspect he 48 hours max.

And if it is still in this country it certainly will not have the same registration plates, and may have adopted another identity in even a new colour :( :( :(

Not to be too disrespectful to his deceased wife, but wouldn't of he been better to spend the money on a 'tracker system'.  If he could afford that model of Merc & personalised plate, sounds like he skimpped on the 'security' of the actual car ???!!!!  :-?.

Perhaps I am not explaining it properly. If car gets stolen and taken straight to thieves property and a tracker is fitted then they risk exposing there operation.
Better to leave it somewhere for 2 days max. and if not recovered they know that no tracking device fitted and safe to move the car on.

But if they risk leaving it somewhere out in the open for say 48hrs, won't they risk it being watched by the plod, to see who picks it up. ::)

Or don't the plod do that sort of thing now?

Doubt they have resouces  :(

Being AMG version its going to be sought after, unlike the diesels. Something like that really does need a tracker

if the owner of the car has the command unit fitted to it mercedes can track the vehicle themselves. the command units have a gps tracker transciver built in to them dont know if its opperational in the uk but it is in germany,france, italy, spain,holland and certain other places in europe
