This World Cup is working out like WW2 - France have forfeited, the USA turned up late, and England are left to fight the Germans!  ;D ;D ;D

I think whilst everyone's(?) happy England got through....over the next two days anger will mount that England couldn't top the group that the Sun called E.A.S.Y. (england, algeria, slovenia, yanks) and its taken them out of the softer side of the draw - France were the only "big gun" in that section and they're out. now you have to face the germans way too early, Argies in the quarters if you beat them....while USA reap the rewards of topping the group - instead of Uruguay or S Korea in the quarters - you'll have Argentina or Mexico :o

Still you have to beat these teams to win it and maybe being underdogs will help ease the pressure  :y

The pundits and media in general have "bigged up" this win - if you review the match objectively you willl see that england were lucky -
Until they scored they looked nervous on the ball (not as bad as the first 2 matches granted)
The goal was down to the goal keeper (Slovenia will be comparing him to Green, rightly so the error was just as bad)
The goal was exactly what they needed, it settled them - going forward they don't have that luxury

i agree, wasnt a great goal, the keeper let it through his hands - but hey - they all count......just wouldn't take much from a 1-0 against Slovenia and now they have a tough match every round they get to  :o

If anything it probably aids our cause playing the big guns. we will have to go out and attack (no sitting back waiting for something to happen) remember Germany have played with that ball all year and had an advantage at the start but not anymore now everyone is used to it.

I dont think for 1 minute that the Germans will be jumping for joy at having to play England.  so how long into the match will a, 1966 be mentioned b, that 5-1 thrashing we gave them? :y :y

do you know the reason england didn't use the new ball prior to going to S.A. ?
The F.A. lost their allocation of 23 balls!
Some of the other countries competing requested extras - did the F.A. ?  - of course not! >:(

England can beat the German team, and the Argentinian team - they could beat any team, they aren't supernatural beings, they're only men with the same arms and legs the same as every body else...

it's just a case of timing  ;)

Best plan would be to field a decent side and keep spud face on the bench ( permanently running up and down in mock warm up) like a sort of ultimate deterent. That way everyone would be happy. When we have a five goal lead then we could bring him on for a few minutes just to keep his fan base happy. ;D ;D ;D ;D
