Tyre Spec's
« on: 06 July 2010, 09:03:26 »

According to the ABS eligable car list the 3.0/3.2 Saloon manual is cabable of 151 mph and the auto 148 mph, So where does this leave us legaly regards speed and load ratings (Whats the minimum spec when looking for tyres) then for insurance, what happens if you make a claim and the wrong rating of tyres are on your car.  Like for example a V rated tyre on a 3.2 salon that is rated to 149 mph but on a car that can do 151mph plus.  Yes I know it's petty and we are legally only allowed to do 70mph, but we all know what insurance companies are getting like. :-X

As mentioned. - What is the minimum spec for the 3.0 / 3.2 V6's ?

Officially the correct rating is W or Y, IIRC.

As with any change from the manufacturer's standard spec, it may or may not be picked up by an assessor, but if it is (and it's very easy to check, if they get a claim they'd rather not pay), you could be in very deep.
