I'm one of the lucky ones that can go for weeks without wanting a smoke. I do like one when i'm having a beer though.

A lot less than if you'd stayed on the fags though Albs, and not killing you either. :y

Doctor told me I should cut down or preferably give up my 20-30 a day habit. After 40 years I thought it would be almost impossible, particularly as I actually enjoy most of them rather than smoking out of habit. So I decided to gradually cut out the daytime cigs and just have 2 or 3 in the evening - usually with a pint. After 3 months I'm still managing it without any problem at all and smoking around 3 a day on average keeping my doctor happy, me happy and my wallet happy. :y

I went 'cold turkey' in 1991 after I was told there was hardly any pulse in my lower legs & I risked losing one or both sooner rather than later :o It was flippin hard going for quite a while as I was a heavy smoker (as in, never one out of my mouth heavy ::)) but i'm now glad I stopped when I did or else i'd never have got through this last bit of bother. I still get the occassional craving for a smoke though, usually after a pint or two ::) ;)

Edit: Our lass says I missed out the bit about driving her up the wall! (swearing & associated rantings deleted as this is a 'family' forum) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Do have some sympathy, have never smoked myself, but know several blokes in my office that are trying to quit, especially one who'se wifes baby is due any time, trying to quit before the birth and struggling. Even with these patches and fake fags that give you nicotine, it must be a terrible "cold turkey" type of thing. Poor bloke REALLY wants to quit, but obviously needs a fag badly at times, especially after lunch and coffee.
