What's Omega worth?
« on: 16 April 2007, 12:33:11 »

My 2.016v GLS - once project Elite is MOT's and on the road, I'll be looking to sell the GLS.

Just under 130k miles

Generally really tidy, no visible rust anywhere. Couple of bits of trim damaged, and small mark on rear door, but nothing to write home about. Martin, Tunnie and Jaime have both seen it.

I have personally done in the last 2k miles:

Cambelt kit change,

Water pump change,

Fitted Full grey leather interior (which is now clean!)

Rear electric window upgrade underway

Fitted a MID (but will only display trip/fuel/range/speed/temp etc - NOT faults, due to no sensors yet)

Working cold Aircon

Working Rear blind

4 oil changes, which have quietened the engine down no end.. going to do another this week

Changed all 4 plugs

Removed and cleaned throttle body ICV and all breathers

Bad points:

Seems a bit juicy on town runs 20/24mpg - but on the motorway at 80 it does 37mpg. Cross country to brackley, I get 34mpg. I think there's a v small air leak where I re-used the TB and ICV gaskets... I will change these before sale which should improve things, because idle is a fraction too high since doing that job.

I will also replace a split breather pipe, which I believe is not helping!

Any ideas on what it's worth?

year?

I would say anywhere between £750-£1,200 (fix the trim if possible).
If you can wait, Autotrader is the way to go.

Sort those fogs and £500 to £700 (my N reg CD 2.0 fetched £640 with 142000 and cam belt due in 20,000 and short MOT).

Its value has bottomed out, working aircon will now make it worth a lot more than a non aircon car.

Those fogs are hideous!!!!

If you fit the stuff from knackered CD2.0 I reckon £1200 to a non OOF member who wants a cheap to run runabout/cruiser.

The 2.0s still hold their value because people are scared of the V6s. A VGC 2.0 will sell.

So fix fogs and try with a good advert on AT local papers £800 ONO - push the servicing ect. And settle for £600.

If you carry out plan A try £1200.

Use a spare towbar as a bargaining point if required.

If you list on Ebay remember to hot link to a photo site as this will save you a fortune.

It is N reg, and it has hideous aftermarket fogs on it!

Also depends if he fits the LPG kit or not as that would raise the value by quite a bit.

There is a short MOT 2.0 Select for £900, I think James would be worth £1200 if he did use the kit rather than flog it to Tunnie.

Those Nasty Fogs have been long removed  ;)

I had £650/£700 in my head on Autotrader, so I'm not far out  :y

Interesting thread...

I was just thinking my W plate facelift Omega 2.0 GLS wasn't worth a great deal as I bought my MV6 quite cheap and I figured my GLS was worth pants!

It's a 2.0 GLS, LPG, 156K, VGC inside and out, no visible rust, although one of the rear arches is shot - not visible unless you get down on yer knees!  Still you wouldn't know it at first glance.

I've just has the front bumper flashed over as the previous owner has a cheap flaky pastry paint job done just before I bought it.  I only noticed just after I gave it a very small bump and it started to flake off like a Greg’s pork pie!  :P mmmm

Full Vauxhall service history to 100k and an even better one until now as I have been a regular on this forum, so in my opinion, better than a dealer!  New tyres and brakes all round, full recent service Inc cambelt and very very good cut, polish and wax with Maguire’s.

LPG works out to be about 7 pence per mile and if you multiply it upto the price of the petrol it works out to be 55mpg around town and motorway!  So all in all a very ceap car to run.  :)

What you chaps recon?? how many dollas?

Yeah i was thinking about 1500+ myself.  hopefully the LPG kit has added to it's value...

I think i have been looking into the V6 market too long as i am treating my 4-pot with the same sort of attitude – in that due to the running and maintenance costs of a V6 scare most people off.  I recon this has forced that area of the market down.

There has to be a point where depreciation has to slow down to a grinding halt for a while as it’s still a car at the end of the day and if it’s a runner with a lengthy ticket that gets from a to be safely, it’s got to be worth a few quid for the functionality!

A "W" reg 2.0 with LPG will easily fetch £1,500+ and probably a bit more. :)

Well it could do with a good wash!!

Get the alloy on & centre caps in place (presentation really helps) & as suggested put it on Autotrader  :y
