Sending a 1/4 of all SO19 Police trained officers is understandable, less so is the 50 Armoured Landrovers sent to hunt down this gunman, but now they have confirmed used of RAF Tornados! 

Would helicopters not be more suitable, as they can hover over a supect area? Jet will be past in seconds  :-/

Difficult to imagine what a Tornado can add to the efforts of a helicopter, other than the element of surprise, I suppose. And a large thirst for Jet A-1.

He is doing an impressive job of going postal. Must be quite an embarrassment that their efforts are yet to bear fruit.

But then on the other hand the Tornado can seatch a much larger area in one flight, and I would expect the technology on the Tornado is just as cutting edge as whats on the helicopter

This is what happens when police officers are not armed as a matter of course - there can be no immediate and effective counter to such incidents as they happen.

The operation seems to have degenerated into farce with heavily armed police officers and soldiers roaming the countryside looking for this man while confining citizens to their homes or restricting their movements.

The fact that resources have been drawn from the length and breadth of the country - including Northern Ireland -indicates to me that the capability of any local force to deal with such matters in real time, is woefully lacking.

on a serious note i think when a highly charged man like him(who i would not like to bump into)is on the loose threatening to kill officers i think the sas should be given open reign to sort it out

Play the song on loop out of really big loudspeakers. That would bring anyone out of hiding. Mind you, it may be against the Geneva Convention.

Would think a helicopter with heat seeking camera would be ideal, but they're probably worried about him shooting at it? What's he armed with?
