Bluebell Railway East Grinstead Walk
« on: 06 June 2010, 11:04:00 »

For those in the East Grinstead area the Bluebell Railway have an open day to walk the new East Grinstead extension.

They are well on their way to reopen this stretch of line, after they have emptied a rubbish tip! ::) ::)

Have a look at this link to get an idea of the work being accomplished:

 :y Smashing link, Lizzie!

I never cease to be amazed, by what volunteers and donations can accomplish; I`m minded to postulate how much might quickly be achieved in returning Britain`s railway route-network to it`s former glorious utility with sufficient funding and 'political will' ::)

Indeed Debs, our great railway system could be restored to its former glory if that political will you speak of was there! :y :y :y

I am sure the funds could be found, even in these tight financial times 8-) 8-) 8-)

Yes Optimist a bean counter, but without his actions we would not have the preserved railways we have today.  Good came out of the bad! 8-) 8-) ;)

Yes they are to be congratulated for their 50 years in 2010 of being a preservation railway, as the first to use an old BR standard gauge line.

Once they complete the line from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead, so to connect with the London bound Rail Track system, it will be a major achievement 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Indeed, and commercially just the right kind of length to make money, to keep maintained, and satisfy passengers, whilst giving good line space for the locos to be given their head and worked properly 8-) 8-)
