But a bird bath plus a food hanger in the garden a few weeks ago, put water, nuts, wild bird food and fat balls out.

Took a few days before they went near the food at first, then they started nibbling at the wild bird food, 1st lot lasted a week, but now its empty every 24 hours, same with the water.  nuts are quite slow but they are eating them

Was the fat balls that surprised me the most, up to last week they only nibbled at one of the 6 that had been put out.  then the top one slowly disappeared over 2 or 3 days, then the 3rd one got eaten over the next 2 days. Then the next 24 hours they just devowred the last 3.

Because of the rain over the last 2 oe 3 days I havent manged to put anymore out for them.  Poor little things.

There is a grey one thats been squatting on the fence for the last week.

Am I right in thinking that I can shoot it as its in the virmin class, or is that the red squirrel.

you can kill greys in your own garden with a suitable air rifle and a clean shot.  If the pellet you fire leaves the boundaries of your property you're in trouble.  Recommend firing from a high point into the center of your garden (grass) to reduce the risk of his happening.
