Ive used autoglass too -for the back screen that suddenly went with 2 holes in it but for no obviuos reason-and, despite them ordering the wrong one first time around (they got the green tinted bit right but forgot about the high level brake light!) didnt have a problem with them. :y

Same here, and they'd fitted it. They changed it for the correct one a few days later.

imo I would be more worried about front drive train and especially wishbones.. they cost more than a windscreen here (gm 180 £ each )and insurance dont pay them :-/

Surely £70 ain't bad for a new screen? Could just as easy happen with a stray rock as a pothole, which can be driven around if spotted tbh. I would try claiming against the council though. Will your insurer help with that?

Autoglass always done a good job on the three screens I've had over 7 years and two omegas.

Bristol City Highways Department...........

"you need two written statements from witnesses that saw the screen broken, and photographs taken AT THE TIME of the incident, with the date and time clearly written imprinted on the photograph, and the reciept from the replacement authorization letter from your insurance, CLEARLY showing the excess you will have to pay. IF it is deemed our fault, payment will be made within 28 days"

Right then, I need to carry around a camera with date stamp facility at all times now, JUST IN CASE the windscreen should break on a pothole in Bristol. Then, I have to stop the next three cars that were driving past when it happened, and take witness statements from them,  all at 0815 in the morning, on a busy dual carriageway.

Anybody think I might get a payout from the Highways Authotity in Bristol on this one??? >:( >:( >:(

There was a prog on tv not too long ago about this. The concensus was that your chances of a payout are:
1) Highly unlikely
or
2) No chance.

Good luck :y
