Corporation of the Week
« on: 25 July 2010, 17:45:52 »

seeing as everything we do, say or buy is logged, recorded and filed by corporations - I thought we could have a little look at these "friendly giants who control us"

week 1

everyone's favourite supermarket.....Tesco!

the largest retailer in the UK - and the 3rd largest on the planet, it also lays claim to having the slowest tills of all the major supermarkets  :y

by using Unicef's slogan to piggyback the Tesco brand it prompted a spokesman for Unicef to quote "it is the first time in Unicef’s history that a commercial entity has purposely set out to capitalise on one of our campaigns and subsequently damage an income stream which several of our programmes for children are dependent on” another first  :y

more than 50p in every pound spent in Inverness is spent in Tesco!!! so remember folks - don't try opening a shop anywhere near one!! :y

Tesco invented a new tomato with no taste and little juice claiming it was ideal for sandwiches and even called it the "Super Tomato"! even tho its worse! but it is cheaper to produce......so win win!  :y

Tesco opened a wine store in France (their only one in that country...tsk the french eh? Tesco - show them what real food is)!!!!!

Tesco plans to close it's only store in France this year  :(

Tesco once failed to meet the food safety laws in Slovakia!!  8-)

despite being British, they operate small holding companies out of the Cayman Islands (corporate tax: 0%) who "run" the stores...saving £millions on paying pesky Tax in the UK!!!! :y

they did used to use Jersey as a tax haven before being run out by the authorities there because it made Jersey look bad!!  :y

sniff......heartwarming  ;D

who's up next? tune in next week viewers! :y
