The Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty covers the cost of replacement parts for the first 100,000 miles, but there is no time limit.

Vauxhall expects that this will equate to a lifetime's worth of cover for 90 per cent of its customers.

The comprehensive OEM warranty applies to the first owner of any Vauxhall car from the day of registration and covers all major components, including powertrain, steering system, brake system and electrical equipment.

Car owners will need to have a free annual vehicle inspection at a Vauxhall dealer.

It is not currently transferrable from first owners, but details of how second owners can purchase the warranty are set to be announced soon

Average annual mileage app. 10K. So VX expect 90% of their customers will be dead 10 years after purchasing the vehicle assuming they haven`t sold/traded/scrapped said vehicle

Some years ago my Father needed a fairly substantial new wooden gate post. He went to a local chippy who offered him a normal post or an Oak one at higher cost with a lifetime warranty.

Quite a few years later the post was rotten, so he remembered what the chippy had said, looked him up - but alas the guy had died.

So, it was a lifetime warranty, of sorts.

What makes me suspicious is that this move by Vx immediately reduces the value of the Network Q "brand" ,,,,,,,

The implication is there in the wording. As for a second owner having to purchase the remainder of the warranty, why? It`s already been paid for in the intial purchase. If VX had one iota of faith in their products the warranty would be transferrable. Typical corporate ambiguity :P

Range includes various astra's, insgnia's plus others.  Only VXR is a corsa.

I do like the look of the Astra, but it's front wheel drive, the only car that would tempt me is the 4x4 Insignia.

But what ever model I think there will be drawbacks on a lifetime warranty.

Clutch and brakes for example.  I did 1000 miles last year, lets say I bought a Corsa VXR just for a fun run arround, find it does decent MPG but just cant give the the buzz the Mig can as it pulls into 3 figure speeds.

So I buy it, rag it eveywhere by driving it like I stole it, but becuase I have an auto I start to ride the clutch and burn it out.

My mileage goes up to 5 k a year, but coz of the way I drive it I screw a clutch and drive shafts evey year (5k) and a gearbox evet 15K (3 years.)

But only use the car in the dry summer and polish it weekly to keep it rust free,  no way will Vx keep me in clutch, gearbox, drive shafts bits and brakes because it does every where at 7000 revs.

Watching thier website for details....... ::)

Clutches are a "consumable" though. ;)

I suspect they are just doing this to woo fleet customers and those who, eager to empty their wallets and buy a new toy, don't bother to read the Ts and Cs.

Why would they care about transferring it to owners who buy 2nd hand? They'd rather have them buy a new car.

If the warranty is any good there'll be a lot of clocking going on!
