Blow out this morning!
« on: 27 April 2007, 13:48:21 »

Having just forked out for 2 new front tyres 2 days ago (hope not too many read my tyre question thread in the Help section! :-[), had a blow out on the way to work this morning. Not sure what the hell I hit or ran over but the tyre is completely breaked and I only had it put on 2 months ago - big gash across the tread! Another new bloody tyre!! >:(

Also, not a pleasant experience changing the offside rear tyre when the car's still in the road (nowhere to pull over) with bloody great lorries thundering past. It's quite a narrow B road but due to a local landfill site, gets used a lot by huge waste disposal lorries. Thank God for the red warning triangle which I had to stick 50 yards back down the road on the bend.

Probably hit something that fell off the back of one of the wagons going to the landfill site :(

Sorry to hear about that mate - a bummer at any time but on that road with a tyre only 2 months old is a real downer.

Sorry Bob i hadn't read your last post i see what you mean now....oooop's, still better to be safe than sorry. If i wern't such a newbee on here i may have suggested a new name for you, pehaps Belt and Braces Bob... BBB, but coz i am i won't ;D Anyway joking aside at least it is just a tyre you have to replace, at 80+ on the motorway then the blow out may have had more serious implications.

Yeah, a tad embarassing and another valuable lesson learned - always check thoroughly before opening gob!! ::) ;D

Actually, I had a bad blow out at nearly 80+ in the outside lane of the M1 a few years ago - a real frightening experience. Luckily, a driver in the middle lane saw what had happened, put on his hazards and slowed the traffic down behind so that I could pull over to the hard shoulder.

Sorry to hear about the blow job mate! Sounds like you had to go down on your hands and knees to rectify this situation, and that can be a bit hairy! The gash does sound rather nasty, but is quite fun when you get your hand into the situation. Doing all this in public is risky, but sounds like you enjoyed this new and interesting experience of exposure.

Oh, the puncture - that sounds like fun too! ;D

Yes like having to change a wheel on the hard shoulder.

Yes I have had  an 80mph blow out with no dramas
