just wondering if any of you have recently renewed or are going to soon, and have been quoted stupid prices because of the adverse conditions this past winter causing more claims, even though you had no accidents??

my mate's been quoted over £1000 to insure his '89 polo 1.1, nearly £300 up on last year, and double what he pays on his Skyline GTT

The moral there is never stay with the same Company for too long unless they give you a deal you are happy with!

Mmm, my ins co suggested I expect a 30% increase on last year - fortunately it wasn't that much extra but this does seem a working figure from April/May.

Mine's due very soon - been quoted 414 quid by our local broker for comprehensive policy.
 

Shopped on-line, and got increased level of cover with CIS for £361 all-in, including no compulsory excess.
Mrs Sethsmate also gets 250 'reward points' automatically credited to her Co-op loyalty card too!
 

Taking all this into account, I'm quite happy, especially as CIS quoted £297 for the same level of cover, against the £414!
 

Charlatans eh - but they lost our custom in the process!

carefully select your occupation because there are usually 3 or 4 various descriptions for the same job! you'll knock of £60+ just doing this. TPFT is no longer cheaper than fully comp... add your wife as a named driver if she has a full clean licence even if she won't use the car, sounds crazy but this will knock off another £40+ lastly go to an insurer that will give you better NCD. Most have a cut off no claims discount of 5 years... so you could have 9 years & still pay the same as someone with only five  :-? If youv'e got 9+ yrs NCD and clean licence 10+ yrs then Esure quote is cheap as chips  if not try them anyway

Direct line jacked mine from 540 to over a grand, it was steep to start with. Iirc we have a joint policy now for similar to the original price with elephant/admiral.

Tell me about it, contacted my insurance company, wanted to insure the 2.6, keeping the 2.2 on the same policy.

£591, the 2.2 only cost £327.

That would have been 3 cars with the same company, my 2 and Mrs AA's Astra.

when he first got the polo he got the expected "no no claims" quotes of over a grand, and they actually dropped it to £700 when he explained he has a seperate policy with 4 years no claims on a powerful car

its only when he's coming to renew that they're trying to milk him for every penny!

My Job loads my policy quite a lot but add on swmbo and it pulls it down a bit.......
