Apparently there has been a record number of "crash for cash" staged accidents. >:(

The "advice to motorists caught in such an accident is to stay calm, not to accept liability and, if possible, to record photographs of the other driver and any other passengers in the car on their mobile phone."  :y

simple - if you're at all suspicious, just tell them to wait while you call the police - I'm sure if they're genuine they won't mind waiting  :y

Good point, BJ, but am I not right in thinking that police policy these days is only to attend road traffic accidents where there has been serious personal injury? Maybe one of our members can clarify that. :y

My stepdaughter had an accident the other where she ran into the back of an asian woman who had gone to pull away and then stopped on an island in bilston near wolvo...Within 2 mins of the accident her husband had showed up and then became racially abusive towards my stepdaughter they also refused to give her their insurance details and demanded her home address in case her insurance details where fraudulant..This scared her a lot as this was her 1st RTA and she did not know what exactly to do luckily she was by a local west mids ambulance station and 1 of the employees from there had heard all the shouting and had come out, he calmed my stepdaughter down snd took her inside for a cuppa and told the 2 asians that they where out of order for all the shouting they had done...They then drove off without leaving there details so the ambulance bloke has agreed to be a witness for our stepdaughter for the abuse and harressment she suffered after the accident...They have since put in a claim for the damage to the vehicle whilst my stepdaughter has contacted her insurance company and told them what happend...i wonder how many passengers will come out of the woodwork.... >:( >:( >:(

There was a bus load in the car my lad hit the back of ..... amazing how many Asians can fit inside a mid sized hatchback.  :-?  :-?

You're not required to give your insurance details, on the other hand, if a copper asks, you must  :y  :y

Perhaps people should fit their cars with these camera/recorders. Some of them have GPS built in as well.

They seem to start quite cheap as well, anyone any experience of them ?.

Exactly the reason I have an on board CCTV camera, which records everything that happens, so if someone purposely runs into the front of me, claiming I've run into the back of them, or runs into the back of me I can prove what happened.  Copies can be given to the police or insurance company if needed.

It's already proven itself on one occation.

Not cheap I know, but the two links below maybe of interest to some of you, if you're worried about such things, and want to protect your interests ?.  :-?

Though does come to something when we're having do such things like this due to an increasing scam that's becoming everyday occurance  >:(

This particular type/make of camera was the one that was the undoing of a car 'mechanic' taking a Monaro out for a 'test run'  ..... Oxford-ish I think  :y

A lot more sense fitting these to cars, rather than the "fairy lights" currently on new Audi's etc. It might stop some of the idiots who misuse the power available.

Ken

( fairy lights belong on an Xmas Tree, not a car)

Tell them you are not insured and have stolen the car!

Actually a few pics could swing it in court
