shes good alright but -on these clips at least- a bit too "widdly" for me. Prefer something a bit more melodic, though if she opens with Santana she must have that side to her playing. Been a few female bands about now but still few "famous" lady players outside of people like Carol Kaye (bass, I know) or Bonnie Riatt. Maybe guitars just dont appeal to girls so much, all that stuff about penis extension maybe? ;D

I would agree with that. A bit of a tendency towards speed for speeds sake, but technically quite good. I would also rather listen to the more melodic sound and feel of Bonnie Raitt.
Might be because Im old. :-/

Superb playing uncle. The harmonics technique, from about 3.20 (tapping the string gently with the left hand while picking with the right, to produce a note an octave higher) requires a lot of finesse to get right. :y 8-)

Not all are a straight octave higher tho', the higher the note the faster the string vibrates. For example, an A above middle C (the violinist’s A string) vibrates at 440Hz (440 times per second). This is the “fundamental” or “first harmonic”. The second harmonic is vibrating twice as fast (ratio 2:1): 880Hz. This gives an A an octave higher. The third harmonic will give a ratio 3:2. This will be an E (an octave and a fifth above the fundamental). The higher the harmonic the quieter it is, but the ratio is always a whole number (not a fraction).

Tbh I knew it wasnt simply an octave higher but I couldnt have attempted to explain the theory as you have Turk. You obviously paid a lot more attention when the theory was being taught than I did. :y

Nah, although I've been playing bass (with the odd stint on drums and guitar) in various bands for over 25yrs, I couldn't remember it exactly.

Talking of females and guitars - I saw Jeff Beck and Clapton earlier this year and thought that Becks young female Bass player - Rhonda Smith -was outstanding

Nah..... listen to Joan.  :y
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZVFuTcYatQ&feature=related
First time I seen her , 2007 , I was expecting all her " pop " songs beautiful although they are ,but she walked onto the stage and I was utterly stunned by her guitar playing . She is an incredible guitarist's guitarist . Unfortunatly not many tracks from her " Into the Blues " album on U tube but if you get a chance listen to her.
I listen to Bonnie Rait a lot too , couldn't agree more on what was said about her .
