"Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or
grassy (field) area and the person -- woman -- will be dragged into the
woods, beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man, they're
usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too.

*DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!!*

AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON'T EVEN SLOW DOWN.

"IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT YOUR WINDSCREEN,
DO NOT STOP TO CHECK THE CAR, DO NOT OPERATE THE WIPER AND DO NOT SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE EGGS MIXED
WITH WATER BECOME MILKY AND BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO 92.5%, AND YOU ARE THEN "FORCED" TO STOP BESIDE THE ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THESE CRIMINALS.

i would like to thank the person who posted this item as i knew nothing about it,unlike alot of you on here i do have a life and dont spend all my time on here so hadnt seen the previous posts listed,i now know why i stopped coming on here, you all seam quick to knock people down when they are trying to be helpful,hes a newbie,a little consideration would not go a miss !!!!!!!! This forum will never get new regular member posting items if you "clicky" lot keep knocking them down in flames !!!!!

Like i said ,im not on here very often, im a busy working mum, get on here maybe once a week and dont have the time to trawl through most of the drivel posts that are put on here, found this post very informative, maybe i should just stay off here cos when i do log in and read some of the posts i lose my rag,its the same people dragging newer people down all the time,the "click" are always right !!! well sorry but not in my opinion, will sighn off now and stay away .

The thing is that these reports may well have no basis in fact.  Is there any point in broadcasting scare stories that may well have their genesis as a result of a spam E-mail?

It's clear from the grammatical construction of the alleged report from police sources (reproduced above) that that something is not quite right, I would have thought it desirable to establish verifiable facts before publishing such potentially important information.

The substantive body of the report about this alleged incident already appeared 3/4 of the way down page 2 in this section.

Have you noticed all the other folks e-mail addresses on these 'Please forward...' type mail ?
I've had some where I've had to scroll down three pages before getting to the message. 

Most are just to gather addresses and info for whatever purpose (be it for use in marketing or possibly something more underhanded).

Forward this for good luck', 'Forward this or bad things will happen', Heart warming 'true stories', 'Keep the chain going'.  I delete them all.

It's a hoax, thats what they were linking to.  It's just another was for the scammers to get your email, as most people thinking this was true would send it to their friends, and then their friends.....ad infinitum.  So in fact they were helping him,  strange that on OOF isn't it?  We help each other

I did post a couple of links that  showed this was a hoax on the original thread but they got deleted with some other stuff that got condemned.

When it was sent to me it was obvious that it was a prepared text by its wording.  So I copied-and-pasted part of it into a search engine with double-quotes round it (the highlighted bit above).

Not only did it pull up lots of results but they covered quite a long period (over 12 months) and some were in America with 9-1-1 as the phone number, others were in the UK with 999 substituted.  Some added references to police acknowledgement.  This made it obvious that it was being deliberately plagiarised and presented as factual.  The only reason for customising it was to introduce fear into a new geographical region.  The truth of it was immediately rendered doubtful.

The reason for creating fear?  To get people to pass it on.

Whether the ultimate reason was to try to create an email storm or to spread email addresses for harvesting by spammers I don't know.
