Hi all
I put this in this section as it applies to both my cars.....
I want to play cd's in my car, but I don't want to use the originals, as they always end up knackered and scratched !!!!!
I have copied a couple but they tend to jump, stop, etc...
I am using nero and they play on the comp ok, but in the car they are crap.
Does it need top quality CD's to copy on to, or is there better software for doing this

Playing copies will ruin the laser in the standard Omega head units

I believe this is a common problem with the Omega's. Something to do with the sampling rates of the head units.
I don't believe there is a way around this and apparently if you continue to play copied CD's it will damage your head unit.
I am sure cleverer people than me will give a better view.

had the same problem myself, i use an mp3 player into a cassette adapter in there now. not exensive either, about 8 quid i think it was in tescos

In laymans terms, the focusing required for CDRs is outside of the original Redbook standard.

In the case of Philips lasers (as used in Omegas), this eventually causes the focusing coils to start to burn out...

I also suffered the same problem.. and changed to new mp3 players.. they are more stable with CDRs..

I still use CDRs, as I tend to make compilations than listen to whole albums.

I use Verbatim, and burn at the slowest speed supported by the media (4x on the current batch).

This is NOT a cure, but it probably helps.  And I have a supply of spare CDC3s for when I destroy them

The top slot on my NCDC/NCDR series (normally used for satnav disc, though can take audio ones route planned, or if not using satnav) usually only sees originals, as I don't have many of these spare!

I have always used copied Cd's in the astra and zafira, no probs at all.

you need to get one of these. have one fitted in my elite. earlier non-colour screen ones can go for relatively little on the bay through clearance stores like argos (mine was 20 quid and theyre 300 in store!)
