the 2.2 gets more WIM treatment...
« on: 21 September 2010, 16:33:24 »

When changing the front shocks on Sunday, I did my best to 'guess' the camber. Tony managed to squeeze the 2.2 in at very late notice for a bit of a tune up.

Now its been about 20k since it was there last, and in the words of WIM the camber was  'not far out'  :)

It was the only thing that need adjusting too, everything else was what it should be  :D

Still, driving out, feels a lot better, and thanks to new drop links no more knocking over pot holes!

So thanks again to Tony and his team for some excellent work  :y

Just got to get those rear shocks on and the old girl is in fine shape!

oh and the importance of camber was clear when an Alfa came in for new rubber, good amount of tread left in centre of the tyre but the inside edges down the canvas!  :o

Wheels in Motion.

They are based in Chesham, and really know their stuff when it comes to geometry settings (camber /toe) on a car setup, they use a custom setup on Omegas which takes into account the fact they are old.

It transforms the handling!

We've had all 3 of ours down there, and they are my first choice for tyres and alignment. Its about a 100 mile round trip, but its worth it.

Some members here do 400 mile trips just to see them  :y

Wow they must be good then. Its hard to believe that there is nowhere nearer that can do the job as good. Chesham is more than 200 miles from us :'(

It is a place where gentlemen (and ladies, I believe) of a certain disposition take their ageing tanks in the forlorn hope that the suspension set-up can be adjusted so as to negate the various knocks, bangs and thumps that seem endemic on this forum.

THey also have several franchise centres that use the same settings, lukily for us up north there is a centre in Bolton (Nigel Langs) thats probably about 50 miles from you Lisa. Many of the members up here have used them including a couple of the Mods and really seem to rate the service. :y
