It's a dirty Zit-Tec.  Should be more than that TBH  ;D

No It's not. Nothing that advanced fits under the bonnet of a Ka. ;D

Kevin

You have educated me again Mister Wood.  I thought the Street Ka's had the Zetec.  I stand erected  :y

I think the newer ones do mine is on the old old Duratec  :-[ but at least i don't have a timing belt to worry about :)

Dont kid yourself, seen a fair few of the chains fail now and more worryingly, some where the tapered seats on the sprockets have spun.

While the local "approved repairer" was taking 9 days to decide that my Omega was not an economic repair, the gave me an 09 reg Fiesta Zetec with 6000 miles on the clock as a courtesy car.  I don't know what engine it had (probably a 1.2, as that's what was specified in the insurance policy) because they didn't supply the instruction leaflet.

What a pile of poo.  I bought old-fashioned Fiestas for my kids when they passed the driving test, and they were great little cars, and reasonably economical.  The new one used phenonomenal amounts of petrol, had a clutch that almost bit my foot off, revved far too high without producing any power and failed totally to make noticeable forward progress in 4th or 5th gear.  Vicious brakes, too.

Good radio, though. :)

I was expecting a Ka, which is what I used to get when my Mondeo was in for a service - they were great fun, although I would want to go on long journey in one.

Sorry - don't think this reply adds anything to the discussion, really. :(

Drove the boss's Audi A4 the other day the annual tax on that is NOTHING  :o

Only for the first year and then its 90 quid.

But to be quite frank, it means hes got the awful low powered diesel unit and its worth paying the extra to get a driveable car!

Despite my constant ramblings about the 1.9tdi, it's not a bad engine (cambelt is a shit on a4), blooming economical, and I look after one that has 270k on clock, and still pulls like it has most of the 130bhp if left the factory with.

We do have some decent maps for it as well which will take it to approximate 170, but unlikely the drivetrain would hold out for long. And as this example is mrs tbs dad, he doesn't use the 130 it's got!

Not had too many dealings with 2.0tdi, although my neighbour is getting a skoda one soon.

But what have vauxhall got? 1.9cdti? Mightily unimpressive in my mates insignia in 150 guise - constantly thrashing the box to make it go

You think its bad there?  ::)

Does anyone want to pay the tax on my 2 litre and i'll pay the tax on your 3 litre no problem  ::)

€614 per year is really taking the p1ss.

The mad part is for anything 2.0 and above the fine for the first month for no tax is cheaper then actually paying it!!!!  :D :D :D

Totaly off topic left wing reply Mr TB ;D

Clearly has a fault with it then, nothing an hour of fiddling would not sort.

It has no relevance on the fact that the low pwoer TD in the A4 which saves you 70-80 quid a year in RFL is a waste of time with the saving not being worthwhile.

Isn't the 2.0dti just a common rail enhancement of 1.9tdi?  I'm no vag expert, and her dads one aside, have no interest in vags?

wrt the insignia, all the power is btween about 2.5 and 3.5k - obviously, tech2 cant talk to it.

Very odd, its max torque at just under 2000rpm so I would guess the EGR is sticking and maybe the MAP sensor wants a clean.

Bet it smokes well

I know Rover moved PDI from the theiving useless dealers to the end of the line in effect in the mid 90s. Guessing Vauxhalls and others did likewise, then penny pinchers probably stopped that?
