..........and again for Mark, yesterday I saw a wonderful example of a Jaguar E-Type V12, like this but in light blue:



The Engine Mark in these, as no doubt you know, was a massive lump:

Yeah I like that one too Guy.....looking at the front grill I'd say it's a 4 not a 6... But I could be wrong. :y I think it's on a "B" plate ...1964.
I think the Zephyr could be a 4 or a 6 with the single headlight grille. The twin headlight grille denotes Zodiac all of which were 6's. Guy. 8-)

I thought that the 6 had a bar running through the centre of the grille. :y

Stromberg carbs?....

You might be right Opti, I think Stromberg’s had an oil reservoir in that raised neck.  The top was closed off by a screwed plunger that had to be operated regularly to damp the piston within the carb.

They are Strombergs, but the SU also had the oil damper.

Aah, that's the name I couldn't remember Lizzie :-* - Volvo used them on their B series engines except in the 123GT which had twin SU's. (If I remember correctly)
