Driving to Totnes to pick up the new project, then I have to trailer it back.  I'm looking at 8/9 hour round trip plus breaks.  Soooooo glad I am doing it in a nice comfy miggy 8-)

Back with Jenaline IV safely tucked up within the wire at work.  Totnes is a lovely neck of the woods I can see why Ian likes it so much, although towing half a ton of boat up and down some of those hills was tough.  Very impressed with Goldie, each way was 169 miles, on the way there 36.9 mpg, on the way back 27.9 including 4 stops (1 for food and 3 to let traffic past)  Was glad not to attract the attention of the rozzers, the mudguards were a little corroded but nicely hidden with lots of duck tape  ::)

To get Jenaline on the water I will need to:

Replace part of a half bulkhead (1 day)
remove all 3 keels sand, epoxy, paint, treat keel seats and refit (3 x 0.5 days as one at a time)
Replace bow rubbing strake and repaint bow tip (0.5 day)
Replace standing rigging and fit anchor chain (1 day)
Sort out running rigging and check everything works (1 day)

To make her better:

Fit leisure batteries and wire plug for electric motor (1 day)
fit and wire in navigation lights with dusk/dawn sensor and fish finder(1 day)
VHF radio

Future plans:

Fit inboard engine
find and fit log/depth sounder/ tick-tack indicator
Make the two single beds one big double  ::)
Boat tent for the back so that 4 can sleep on board
Running water and sink
Portapotty ::)
CD/MP3 player
oh and find crew (LZ offer still stands  ;))

Update on Jenaline IV for those interested
« Reply #7 on: 26 September 2010, 17:41:56 »

Update on Jenaline IV for those interested:

A thorough investigation of the bulkheads unveiled a lot more rot than first thought.  I think the seller deliberately didnt let on about the extent of the rot as there is evidence that someone tried to repair a patch in one bulkhead.

Took off one of the bilge keels and sanded it down, repainted with zinc galvanic paint and bolted back on with some sikaflex.  Tried to take off the other keel and most of the bolts snapped off they were that corroded, 3 will have to be chiselled off/drilled out.  Some of the bolts are 50% the diametre they used to be.

the new keel:

The where the bulkhead used to be:

A better view:

The old bulkhead removed:

The biggest problem I am going to have to deal with is there is a stringer of wood with goes from front to back under the side deck and the coach house which is rotten in places.  I am going to have to replace it but I hope without reoving the decks and coach house in the process.

Roll on payday so I can get some marine ply  :y
