Kit Cars
« on: 28 September 2010, 19:51:36 »

As much as I like Kevin's Westfield, and the Chevy 350 powered Pheaton I mentioned a while back my heart lies with these, sleek looks and with the right power plant they can and will embaras most things with 4 wheels fitted, and probably a fair few 2 wheeled projectiles as well.

Sadly nothing above the 3500 rover shown, but have seen them with the chevy 350 fitted and even the Ford 427 Cu In

A mate of mine built a Dax Tojeiro. Quite a nice kit. Just used a 3.5 Rover V8 with a Typhoon or Hurricane cam, IIRC, but with a pair of sidepipes that were slightly less efficient at silencing it than the standard fitment.

I still don't think I've heard anything comparable to driving that car through the Dartford tunnel. 8-)

Wasn't that quick, though. Big heavy car with Jag running gear = lots of iron compared to a Westfield.

The Dax 427 demonstrator was "a bit better", and I hear they have built a demonstrator with a Chevy 502 now. :-*

Nice but heck.. you can buy a lot of car for £45k!

It's a pretty spectacular kit car that makes that much money. :o I suspect the seller is in for some disappointment.

Maybe not, but it's a replica kit car.. not an original Cobra.. (although the latter I suspect would be much more than £45k)

And they're not that rare - although I presume 'Gardner Douglas' is a name to be proud of, but: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.asp?s=492

The Dax Tojeiro with camber compensation setup is VERY nice to drive.

And Cobra kits in the Uk have never had it so good now the Monaro is sold over here!

The Rover V8 is just not up to it, it will struggle to see 230bhp even with a hurricane cam, fancy exhaust and a bit of porting

Yes, but a profesionally built and setup car, fully chromed sutable for showing  would sell easily for that sort of money.

Now you're talking.. if that's a genuine 500bhp, it must be a hoot.

True.. I can't help thinking that if I was going to spend that sort of money, though, it'd be on a 993 Turbo (with ~£10k left in my pocket) ;)
