I did have to follow a slow Diseasel Volvo earlier this week but when I passed him a puff of smoke came out of the exhaust - bit too late when I was passing him.

aghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'd be wary of assuming that a puff of smoke from a diesel means it's too late for them to keep up / out run you.... if you look at some of the stats for turbo diesels they could give quite a fair few petrols a run for their money......

This problem will only further grow!! :'( :'( :'(

Remember, there are now more people over 70 years of age than ever before, and them as a percentage of the population is going to get ever greater!! ::) ::) ::)

Still, isn't fun when you face that 'challenge' in front of you, and you then blast away with the V6 roar (of course all within the speed limit and on a clear road!! ::) ::) ::)) :D :D :D :D :D ;)

Unfortunately I'd have to agree with you there as much as i don't want to. The mid range and grunt in some turbo ds is just amazing it nearly rips your face off, especially when people cheat, I mean get them chipped!

But, driving a manual they might have the edge over my auto elite keeping the turbo at spool, until my multi ram kicks in and it's take off time! Even on dual carriageway roundabouts I surprise people, pulling away massivley from them as the beast just eats roudabouts! It handles brilliantly, I'd rather keep the elite than the mv6. I'd never have a diseasal!

I hate old people on the road, they're slower and more frustrating than anybody. I was doing 15 mph behind one the other day, he was taking the mini-roundabouts super-wide and stopped at each one even though it was clear (pet hate) and then pulled over without indicating  >:(

Whenever you see someone doing something really stupid on the road, it's usually a biddy  ::)

IMO there aren't any drivers stereotypes anymore, there is good and bad everywhere, generally more bad than good though! Having said that, I think taxi drivers are particularly bad, with bus drivers not far behind them, then all these home delivery vans, the big white ones with the green arrow on the side.

I think your contradicting yourself there mate  >:(
And, of course, you have first hand experience of my driving  ::) ;)

At work we have a Discovery (for towing the big stuff). It has a 3.0 V6 diesel with twin turbos & goes like  :o :o For a weighty vehicle, it's no slouch :y

i had a heartstopper the other day when a van pulled out slowly but suddenly infront of me from a left side road to go in the same direction as me while i was doing 40 in a 40, i had to swerve to the other side of the road and overtake to avoid him, his van was a foreign van, left hand drive, so at the angle he was at before he pulled out, there's NO WAY he could have even seen whether anything was coming, he basically just took a gamble!

I was already up to road limit as I had dropped back to enable a quicker overtake 8-)

Tonight I caught up with one on the bypass and it effed around at the roundabout and in wrong lane - end result I was turning off and only a few feet behind.

Another car followed me back tailgating me and had a go saying he was a cop - I have emailed the Police to check if he was.

I let him know his tailgating was a lot more dangerous - mine was just slowie slowing down a lot more than they should and I caught up.

I changed my commute about 2yrs ago due to my average speed over 4000 miles dropping below 30mph. Remember, I live near the M1/M40/A43, so it should be much higher.

My average speed is now 39mph (over last 6000 miles), but my commute is 10 miles a day longer :(
