just trash it and re-build it, backup any important documents onto a flash drive and then put a fresh build of Windows on it. With heavy use I was re-building my old PC every 6 months

Just spent the evening cleaning out the computer,suprising at how much space some of those kids games take up! ,did a de-frag and it's defo running faster now,only one serious problem with it now-an anti virus programme that keeps kicking in and telling me how many things are wrong with the computer,only thing is i can't delete it for love or money,i can't even find it in add and remove programmes ,so the bloody thing is hiding somewhere, any ideas anybody?? 

I'd bet the "anti-virus program" is a virus itself. 

As advised, get the name and post it.
