Opel Antwerp to shut
« on: 18 October 2010, 20:50:48 »

Opel said on Monday afternoon (18 October) that further negotiations over the future of its Antwerp, Belgium, assembly plant had ended and that vehicle assembly would stop at the end of this year.

"After a further meeting with a potential industrial investor, Opel confirms its statement of 4 October, 2010, that negotiations with this category of investors have concluded. There was no investor presenting a positive business case or a positive future for employees or the site," the automaker said in a statement.

"Opel also confirms that vehicle assembly operations in Antwerp will cease at the end of 2010 and that discussions with other categories of investors will intensify."

There used to be 2 plants in Antwerp - I wonder if they are both closed or whether one has already shut  :(
