I think the reason is simply the way the forum software is configured by the writers.

I find the "best" way to search the forum is to use google "advanced search" and to put "www.omegaowners.com" in the bottom box .. titled "search within a domain"

This works very well, providing you use a good phrase  IMHO

I'm with Entwood  on this.
Use http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=site:omegaowners.com+&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= leave the "site:omegaowners.com bit in the text box and just add what your looking for.  :y

The site search isnt great, but if you are specific, it should always find your result.

Google is often easier and quicker, but doesnt have every page indexed.

I use a mix of both for my searches

The search is a severe limitation of the forum software we use.  For our needs, its the only real limitation. We are promised an update that will resolve this, but can't see that coming until next summer at the earliest, so for now, take the advice above :y

Not all our pages are in Google, so there are times that the in built search has to be used.
