My teeth
« on: 21 October 2010, 13:54:13 »

What's good to get rid of severe tooth pain I'm polled up to the hills and this is seriously the worst pain I've ever had, my whole mouth hurts, the dentist is about as useful as a chocolate fire guard where can I go?

Another dentist? Do you know what the problem is?

In the meanwhile, dry a drop of clove oil and see if sipping on very cold salt water helps.

My missus went A&E because her toothache was so bad. they only gave her painkillers but they were strong and effective. Could try registering with another dentist after and get an emergency appointment? hope you feel better :y

a piece of cotton immersed in strong drinks like scotch.. place on the pain area and keep for some time..

but pain shows direct touch to nerves so you need dentist immediately..infection is also likely possible..  :-/

Should have added that targeting the troublesome area with a little on the end of a cotton bud is probably preferable to swigging it from the bottle. ;D

I had root canal surgery yesterday. The pain is quite pronounced today. I have tried a combination of Ibuprofen and Paracetomol (you can take them both together). It does take the edge off the pain.
You need to get to the root(excuse the pun) cause of the problem.
Good luck

Placing ice cubes against the affect area should sooth it and numb the area reducing the pain. :)

No dentist can get me in until next year, can't take more pills because I'm bound to overdose.

Can't you at least get an emergency appointment?

Nope not one place in Kent will book me in today, early tomorrow morning is the only time they can get me in, then they want me to pay £42 just to have a look. 'dangle berries' to it I'll rip the things out with the pliers

Is it a cavity or could it be an abscess?

When I had an abscess beneath my wisdom tooth, I was advised to swill warm salted water around my mouth. The logic is that the heat makes the abscess expand to the point that, like a volcano, the pus-filled interior is expelled... :y

I shan't go on, I'm feeling queasy. ;) ;D

Yes, depends. If it's a tooth problem cooling it can cause it to contract, relieving pressure on the nerve. So I'm told. I'm not a dentist, more's the pity, otherwise my garage might be on the PistonHeads thread. ::)

Agreed. And a further bill for £420 to end the pain. Money well spent IMHO. There's nothing worse than a troublesome tooth.
