spend the £42 you tight old sod - that might include the xray, cup of coffee, hd tv and a nice receptionist and posh sofa and car and travel magazines - oh and 15 mniutes of dentists time

Agreed. And a further bill for £420 to end the pain. Money well spent IMHO. There's nothing worse than a troublesome tooth.

Bit of advice Del Boy....once you get on their books (provided they do NHS) stick with them and do the 6 monthly checkups. It will save you pain and money in the long run....I speak from experience. I won't go into details, other than I went 15 years avoiding dentists to my peril and expense. :y :y :y

Yes its grieving to know what they can charge privately, but once sorted, find a NHS dentist and DO stick with it.

You could almost certainly get a private appointment tomorrow morning, but it will cost you. Mrs Albs had an infected, impacted wisdom tooth a few months ago, absolute agony. Usual dentist was too scared to touch it. Went private - sedation + extraction = £325. :o :'(

I only have 7 left at the top and 10 at the bottom so I dont get as many problems as I used to. Having said that I have had a abscess/ growth/lump type thing beside one of my filled top teeth for over a year now. It gets inflamed and painful sometimes, but give it a week or 2 and it calms down again. ::) ;)

But how does that stop the tooth from hurting?  :-?

Del Boy, you'll have to try it and report back on success rates...

It it's anything like round here nobody will take on any NHS patients. Haven't been to an NHS dentist since I was a student. They all say they do NHS work, but aren't currently able to take on any new NHS patients. >:(

Just have to find a reasonable private dentist. The longer you leave it the worse it'll be though. :-/
