Does anyone have experience of the Philips HDT8520 Freeview HD recorder?

This seems good value @ £219 delivered.

Thanks

No, but AV Forums are usually a good place to find out.

This link might be even more to your liking?

Pace are involved so there will be issues - if anyone from Pace is reading - your products DO have issues but you hide your tech support so we cannot find them to get it sorted.

Will it power up if left on ITV? >:(

Will it record in a DSO region? >:(

Did I spend around £300 for a PVR with no support when it isn't worn out? >:(

Will my next PVR be from Pace?

NOT A CHANCE!

Will have a Pace PVR ready for the tip next september >:( >:(

Try the Humax, might be around £300 but it appears to work reliably

Agreed, did your mod in the Scaleo/Atrisan case at the weekend only using a Core 2 processor and the heatsink from the original board instead - works a treat.

1080p content even from YouTube is stunning,  aside from that the interface is easy to use and good to look at.

Yes - Windows Vista anf W7 Home Premium have Media Centre app built in.

XP MCE used a custom version of XP

Shove in a nice case (I use Elonex Artisan case), shove under telly, deals with all your viewing and recording needs.  Easier if you have a telly with a PC or HDMI input though!

Soz, not even looked at HD cards yet, other than a cursory glance at Blackgold's products, as we aren't going through DSO for another year (Sept 2011, assuming the transmitter doesn't burn down again ;D).

Do keep toying with a blackgold 6 in 1 tuner to get Freeview and Freesat, but I know that card cannot do Freeview HD. But that means me getting ladder out to fit a dish.

Thanks - I have already got Freesat HD, but want Freeview HD.

I wont go down the Philips route, but there is a Humax unit which looks good.

I guess another few months will see more kit available ......
