Sounds good to me, unless there is a medical reason then why not make unemployed work for their benefits, ther are lots of jobs that need doing. how long is the list?  Why should you get money for nothing...... >:(

But they do get paid - probably the most generous benefits in the world. It wont happen though. It would almost certainly breach their "yumin rites".

I think its a great idea why should some lazy git working the benefit system get to sit around all day when I have to work my ass of to ensure my family has everything they need and pay for him too.
Its about time, btw I have no issue with those genuinely medically unfit for work :y

I've mentioned this before , but the Spanish system has a process where unemployed (lot of seaonal agricultural work) get their benefits by doing community work. Women paint bridges and railings for example.

Out in the country now our ditches are being cleaned and lined with concrete, the roads widened and so on. Both unemployed men and women do this for three or four weeks.

I think it is a great scheme. If your Dad painted the village hall you or your mates would be less likely to vandalise or graffiti it.

Yes. And those that don't want to take part move to Barcelona and mug and kill people for their valuables. :y

Completely agree Varche. :y...........also, if someone is on benefits due to the fact they are bone idle and then have to work for their benefits, they might just decide to look for a proper job, which pays more than benefits. ;)

It'll never happen, too many people will be up in arms about their 'rights being violated'. As with anything else anyone tries to do  ::)

Well im out of work at the moment and have been for a while as i worked as a contractor there are gaps between jobs thanks to people from over the water coming over and taking the work i have a massive gap before getting back. When i was working i was paying sometimes over £300 in tax a week so does this mean i shouldn't be able to claim back £65 without having to work for it, as i see it i have worked and put plenty in. Its not that im lazy but the only temp work i have seen so far pays less then benifits, plus as we all know miggys are abit of a money pit  ;D but when the job i do comes up i need a big car that can handle long motorway work and a seat that takes my fat asre ;D so i cant buy something cheaper to run.

I e-mailed my MP on exactly the same lines a few months ago.
What prompted me was the shit over the road who has no intention of ever working.
Lets hope it's implemented :y :y

Agree, basically.

I work for a pittance, probably entitled to some form of benefit, to be honest, butI dont want to claim, thats taking money out of other peoples pockets. Get them doing SOMETHING. Without going off on a hate tangent, we have lots of persons of foreign birth in this country, and the reason is, allegedly, that we dont want to do the 'menial' jobs. As far as I can see, it satifys the people who are ''sick of all these foreigners'' as well as satisfying the eople who are "sick of all these dole scroungers". Win win.

Until Cameron closes down the industry where you work and you go from working at BAE Systems to cleaning out the council estate's gutters. But by then he'll have a ginger wig and going "you turn if you want to, this lady's not for turning" and by then were all screwed anyway :D :D :D :D

There is, after all "no such thing as society" after all  :y

The Archbishop of Cantebury has already come out saying it will be 'unfair' and that, by way of example, "ex-offenders who've recently been released don't need too much pressure to find work".

Ah, those poor little ex cons, can't be putting them under pressure to do something productive instead of stabbing people or robbing things, can we  ::)
