How much?
« on: 06 November 2010, 22:54:48 »

I was driving home the other night and thought "I wonder how much BAR6E (or 'Barge') would be for the barge.."

I had a look around tonight - apparently £24k!

Ouch...

It always makes me wonder how much people paid for their plates, especially when I see things like '248E' or similar on a Range Rover - the plate must have cost more than the car it's on  :D which begs the question of .. why?!

Local council has VS 0 (on a 20 yr old Granada) Surely worth a few quid in times of cutbacks.

We have 3 cherished plates in our family none of them mean anything, thay are just dateless plates.

Dad's one was bought on a Cortina for £250, number plate changed and car sold for £150.

My wifes plate came off a morris minor which cost £75 and then given to a scrap yard.

My plate came off a hillman minx, car cost £150, cost about £50 to get an mot on it and then sold for £125.

It is still possible to get a dateless plate at reasonable cost, it just requires a bit of effort.

Currently there is a car on ebay with a 999 number at reasonable cost.

The Southampton mayors car has TR 1

Hmm.. interesting plan :) Could use some old bangers (sorry, classics!) that are tax free to fill the visitors parking with (just to pi** off my neighbour who insists on filling it with his work vans rather than use his pristine paviered drive which sits empty, grr) .. annoy him and get non-age-related plates into the bargain!  ;D

Actually I do already have one 'private' plate, but it came with the car it's on  ;D K2XTT on the '92 (hence K reg) 300 ZX TT - probably worth more than the car is now, too ;D

Washing a car, is like making love to a beautiful woman.  caress the bodywork. Breathe softly and gently. And give every inch of it your loving attention. And make sure you've got a nice wet sponge.
