Service Brake Circuit: ABS vs. Std.
« on: 09 November 2010, 07:43:14 »

Lazydocker`s brake incident got me thinking. :-/

Non ABS brake circuits (as with my `95 Disco) are dual-circuit: divided Fr.- Rr. or o/s Rr. - n/s Fr. etc......so, combined with the spring-centred 'shuttle' spool-valve; theoretically, you only lose half of your brake`s efficacy (and fluid).

Is a modern ABS system unable to leave one with remaining brake service in the non leaking circuit/s?.....and consequently does a catastrophic pipe failure result in near-total fluid loss in an ABS equipped system? :-?

both the circuit on your Disco and on Omega B are split front/rear. even inside the ABS pump, there's no connection bvetween front fluid and rear fluid.
