No, they do a GM seat conversion (for wants of a better word) for the estate.

To answer your question;

The Zafira is basically an Astra.

It makes good use of the 7 seats, but luggage space is worse than rubbish when in 7 seat mode.  Something larger like a S-Max is more practical if 7 seats are required at all times.

I'd consider something like a Chrysler Grand Voyager.

Great motors if you only need the two rear seats occasionaly.

You cna still get the casics in the back with the rear seats up but,you wont be taking holiday luggage with you.

Reliable and pretty well screwed together and about the best compromise of the peaople carriers (I tried the lot before I bought mine)

Take a look at the Citroen C4 Grande Picasso, I had one for over 3 years, great car imho and in 1.6 diesel quite nippy and well over 40 MPG around the town...compare that to my Omega... :'( :'( :'(

for the same price as a new Zafira, you could look at a older Volvo V70 with 7 seats AWD and all the toys....and before you shout about economy look at the depreciation on a 3yr old Volvo compared to a new Zafira and it probably works out much cheaper going for the V70 even with all the higher costs - insurance/repairs/fuel.....worth looking - theres some really good ones for buttons - even the T5's  :y

It may have 7 seats, but it's not really a 7 seater, is it?

T5'

That's the one BJ - had an XC70 T5, would have another if it wasn't for the crippling parts and labour costs.

But even most of the 7 seaters have no boot with in 7 seat mode, even in my Citroen you would be hard pushed the put much more than a push chair in the remaining boot...

there was a time when i would have suggested a sintra....

when they worked, they were great,  but when they break, you're stuffed.....    coz they're essentially built in the us, and vx nor opel ever kept much in spares...     for my first 80K miles in my 3.0V6 one it was pretty good, other than regular new front discs... (too small for the car)

after that it got to be a PITA.   being quoted 12 weeks for a new pair of rear springs to come from the US>....    not bloody funny.

but when compared to driving the Zafira hire cars our Vx dealers lent me , it was in a different league to drive...   a bit like the Miggy Vs the astra....    so i kept it going....  for a while...

and you could get 7 people AND luggage for 2 weeks holiday IN the sintra....   un like a bloody Zafira...   where a roof box becomes mandatory.

the running costs , parts costs and servicing costs on the Voyager are obscene.....      seriously....
